▼ Mass Advantage: Mass Advantage closes its Medicare Advantage plan in Worcester County on Jan. 1, 2027
Mass Advantage, the Medicare Advantage plan created with UMass Memorial Health providers, says on its website that it did not submit a bid for 2027 because of rising costs, lower reimbursement and regulatory uncertainty. The plan closes for new and existing members effective Jan. 1, 2027. Members who do nothing return to Original Medicare with no drug coverage. Members have a special enrollment period through Feb. 28, 2027.

Place Mass Advantage clients by Dec. 31. For clients who want UMass Memorial doctors, confirm the hospital's 2027 network on each replacement plan. Blue Cross Massachusetts is capping enrollment in Worcester County, so get applications in early. For clients going to Original Medicare, write a guaranteed-issue Medicare Supplement and a Part D plan so they aren't left without drug coverage.
