● Kaiser Permanente: CMS grants a special enrollment period and Medigap guaranteed issue to Kaiser Nevada Senior Care Plus members losing their doctors
Kaiser Permanente Nevada, formerly Renown's Hometown Health, is dropping providers from its Senior Care Plus Medicare Advantage network (contract H2960) on Dec. 13, 2026. CMS ruled the change significant, so affected members get a special enrollment period with Medigap guaranteed-issue rights. Members qualify if they are assigned to, are seeing, or saw in the past three months a provider who is leaving. The period starts the month Kaiser's notice arrives and ends two calendar months later; letters went out dated Oct. 20. Kaiser told members in July that more than 4,500 would lose their doctor.
Your move
Ask Senior Care Plus clients in Carson City, Storey and Washoe counties whether they received the October eligibility letter. Clients who received it can move now, either to a Medicare Advantage plan that contracts with their doctor or to Original Medicare with a guaranteed-issue Medicare Supplement and a Part D plan. This window is separate from the Dec. 7 deadline, but write it before year-end. Keep a copy of the letter with each application as proof of the special enrollment period.
